FAQ of Hongkong company registration
[Q] Can a person with a Chinese ID register a company in Hong Kong?
[A] There are no restrictions in terms of the nationalities of the director(s) and/or shareholder(s).  Therefore, yes, Chinese ID card holders are allowed to set up a Hong Kong company and in fact, most of the offshore companies have no restrictions in terms of the nationality of shareholders and directors when setting up a company.

[Q] How can you find out whether a company has been registered legally?
[A] This is very simple, you can ask a friend or any other person to go to the Government Offices at 13 Queensway, Hong Kong F, search hall, to conduct a search. Moreover, the banks would be willing to open an account for your company if sufficient proof of the legitimacy of your company exists.

[Q] I would like to set up a Hong Kong Limited Company, what do I need?
[A] One or more shareholders and directors aged 18 years or more, holding a passport or identity card from the Mainland, or an overseas citizen, can set up such a company. In addition, under the HK Company Ordinance, an address in Hong Kong as a registered address, and a Hong Kong resident to act as a company secretary should be provided and RICHFUL will assist on this.

[Q] How long does it take to set up a Hong Kong Limited Company?
[A] It can take around 10 - 15 days to set up a Hong Kong Limited Company.

[Q] From what point can the new company be found in the Companies Registry?
[A] In general, 16 working days from the date of registration you can access and view the background information contained in the records held by the Registrar of Companies in Hong Kong. Information is stored in the form of a film to facilitate public searches.

[Q] What does the charge for a new company registration include?
[A] The agency charges for registering a Limited Company include:
(1) Drafting the Memorandum and Articles of Associations, company registration fees, corporate kits, including company seal, signature chop and a small round chop, 1 booklet of share certificate, 20 books of the Memorandum and Articles of Associations and minutes of meetings;
(2) The first year payment for the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department Business Registration Fee
(3) The appointment of directors and secretaries, submission and verification of their registration documents;
(4) Courier fees are free of charge within the region of Hong Kong and China. Delivery charges will apply for countries outside Hong Kong and China.

[Q] Are there any other hidden costs?
[A] The charges cover all fees for the commencement of operation of a Limited Company (but not including bank accounts). There are no other hidden costs.

[Q] In the event that business is not good and the company has to apply for suspension of activities, what expenses must be paid on an annual basis?
[A] The Hong Kong company can apply to stop doing business temporarily at any time. Apart from paying the annual company report expenses for the registered office and annual examination expenses to the tax office, there are no other costs to pay. If the market takes a turn for the better, the company can start up again at any time. This measure can save a lot of expenses.

[Q] Our Hong Kong company has just been established, can we enter into a foreign joint venture or proprietorship in Mainland China?
[A] The company can make investments at home immediately after being established, including entering into joint ventures or  proprietorships.
