"Tibetan costumes" will decorate Lhasa's main street in the capital city of Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
A total of 22 main streets connecting the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple and other scenic spots along the streets and public facilities will be rebuilt with Tibetan styles between 2009 and 2011. Modern buildings and old traditional streets form a unique scene in Lhasa.
The rebuilding project will be carried out in three stages. The first stage, started in October 2009 and to end in May, involves rebuilding seven streets with an estimated cost of 55 million yuan ($8 million).
