Exports of China's information technology and electronics, which accounted for one-third of total national exports, jumped 36.5 percent annually in the first quarter of this year due to a boom in the electronics component, laptop and LCD component sectors, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said.
In the first three months, the IT and electronics exports were worth US$119 billion, or 37.6 percent of national exports. Exports were worth US$71.1 billion in the same period last year, 23.2 percent drop from a year ago, the ministry said.
"The exports have continued to rebound since the second quarter last year," the ministry said in a statement. "But it hasn't fully recovered to the level before the global financial crisis."
In the first quarter, exports and imports were worth US$205.7 billion, an annual rise of 42.7 percent.
Electronic component exports rose 54.1 percent to US$15.6 billion. Exports of LCD panels and components jumped an annual 85.5 percent to US$5.7 billion while laptop exports surged 53.6 percent annually to US$19.6 billion, the ministry said.
