Boom in BRIC billionaires
Rising steel and oil prices in Russia, more honest disclosure in Brazil and the booming economies in China and India fueled a spike in billionaires from the BRIC countries on the Forbes 2011 rich list, Reuters reported. The world's richest man, Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim, retained his crown for the second year running, taking his fortune to $74 billion. China nearly doubled its number of billionaires to 115. Founder and CEO of Baidu, Robin Li, became the first billionaire from the Chinese mainland to make the Forbes top 100.
