Hong Kong's Census & Statistics Department announced Tuesday that the city's volume of total exports grew 19.9 percent year-on-year in the first two months this year, meanwhile the volume of imports rose 14 percent.
During the two-month period, the volume of goods re-exports grew 20.5 percent compared to the same period in 2010, while that of domestic exports fell 4.3 percent.
For February alone, the department said the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports grew 19.5 percent year-on-year, while that of domestic exports fell 4.9 percent.
The volume of total exports for February rose 18.9 percent and imports increased 15.8 percent.
Comparing the three-month period ending February with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total exports rose 9.5 percent. Within this total, the volume of re-exports grew 9.6 percent, while that of domestic exports rose 6.1 percent. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods rose 7.4 percent.
