Chinese equities fell for the second consecutive day Thursday on the back of falls in gold mining and f shares.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.23 percent to close at 2,555.94 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.46 percent to 9,945.55 at the close.
Total turnover shrank to 130.96 billion yuan (19.17 billion U.S. dollars) from 139.5 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 722 to 129 in Shanghai and by 774 to 149 in Shenzhen.
