Chinese shares edged up Friday, buoyed by continuous gains in software and heathcare shares as well as a rebound in property shares.
The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,553.59 points, up 0.94 points, or 0.04 percent from the previous close. The index ended the week with a drop of 3.85 percent.
The Shenzhen Component Index ended at 10,187.20 points, up 69.16 points, or 0.68 percent, from the previous close.
Total turnover shrank to 120.55 billion yuan (17.65 billion U.S. dollars) from 152.05 billion yuan on the previous trading day, a record low since March 16.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 584 to 259 in Shanghai and 715 to 220 in Shenzhen.
