Chinese shares edged up in the morning session on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 percent, or 2.93 points, to 2,730.95.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 34.78 points, or 0.30 percent, to 11,677.18.
