Chinese shares tumbled during midday Monday after economic data over the weekend showed a sharp drop in exports.

The benchmark [Hong Kong Company Formation|Hong Kong Company Registration]Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.69 percent, or 34.69 points, to finish at 2,023.22.

The Shenzhen Component Index declined 1.45 percent, or 106.47 points, to close at 7,222.02.
